August 2008 - Paige Martin, founder of Sprout Studio & Gardens, was awarded landscape architect for the West Coast
Green’s fall tradeshow. West Coast Green, the nation’s largest conference and expo dedicated to green innovation,
building, design and technology will be held this year at the San Jose Convention Center, September 25-27th. Sprout
Studio & Gardens will design and install the gardens surrounding the central Showhouse, a visionary example of
innovative residential design and execution. The garden will create places where visitors can explore green
possibilities, mingle and relax in garden rooms and appreciate artisan-crafted, sculptural garden accessories and
furniture. Mature olive trees will provide soft, protective canopies to the spaces below and native and drought-
tolerant planting will celebrate indigenous plant communities and water conservation. An organic kitchen garden
encouraging sustainable food production and a hummingbird / butterfly garden supporting wildlife will be set within
a framework of local, natural stone and porous paving. Bay area recycled wood will create garden fences that define
the entry as well as a trellis for solar panels – an innovative solution for renewable energy. Come visit the gardens and
