PG&E
What we love about PG&E
As Robert F. Kennedy said at our inaugural event, "PG&E is the best utility in the United States". And we couldn't agree more. PG&E recognizes the tremendous impact that a utility company has and asks the question "how can we become carbon neutral?" and follows that up with direct action. They are committed to raising the bar when it comes to energy innovation, as evidenced by bringing the notable William McDonough on retainer to explore future development, delivering some of the nation's cleanest electric power, to investing in renewables, this commitment to be the greenest utility in the country is evident. We are personally impressed with their unconventional, outside the box programs such as converting methane into clean energy and advocating for regulation of greenhouse gases through partnerships. PG&E is taking the lead in their arena by supporting their customers through one of the country's most successful energy-efficiency programs—and many other innovative environmental initiatives like ClimateSmart™, a first-of-its-kind voluntary offset program. And most importantly, their integrity meter is high. They are committed to sharing information about their actions, taking responsibility for their historic environmental impacts, and operating in a way that is consistent with their environmental justice principles. For this, we can honestly say that we are serious fans.
Intel
What we love about Intel
We’re tremendously honored to be partnered with a company that we hold such a high opinion of and who’s vision and values are so closely aligned with our own—the components of which involve creating a future that’s greener, more efficient, involves smarter cities and intelligent transportation and inspires the conviction that we all have the capacity for greatness in making this a reality.
Intel’s belief that you can achieve a brighter future by helping people envision it, is why we are so thrilled that they’ve chosen West Coast Green to be one of their exclusive venues for sharing this powerful message in person. The West Coast Green 2010 platform will be a real-time demonstration of how everything is connected…from the Smart Grid to the Smart Home, to Intelligent Transportation Systems and exactly what the infrastructure to support these systems will look like. The innovations from Intel are what we’d call the brains for powering all of the above. The emergence of the Smart Grid, underscores the value of change when it happens in a cross-industry, scalable way and that intersection of technology and sustainability is where the most significant environmental advances can be made. Intel is front and center in being the “go to” provider for any business wanting to know what’s possible in the world of technology and how they can get connected to it.
Something else you may not know about Intel -- their environmental scorecard is every bit as impressive as their reputation for innovation!
• Intel maintained its position as the largest voluntary purchaser of renewable energy credits in the United States, according to the EPA who placed Intel at the top of its latest Green Power Partner List for 2010.
• In January 2010, Intel announced its plan for eight new solar installations at its U.S. facilities. Intel's latest renewable energy credit purchases equate to approximately 51 percent of Intel's estimated U.S. electricity needs for 2010. This corresponds to the carbon dioxide emissions from the electricity use of nearly 134,000 average American homes or nearly 200,000 passenger cars removed from the streets for one year.
• Since 2001, the company has invested more than $30 million in and saved more than 650 million kilowatt hours from energy conservation and efficiency initiatives.
So, from the Smart Grid to Smart Transportation, Intel is changing the way we live and raising the bar on what it means to be a part of the communities of the future. Intel is innovating what it means to power the future and we are thrilled to have Intel as our true co-pilot in this endeavor. As noted scientist and luminary, Alan Kay, said “The best way to predict the future is to invent it” and that’s precisely what Intel is doing.
IBM
What we love about IBM
IBM understands how sustainability is a 21st century business imperative –- one that is not only concerned about the environment but also economic growth and the long term viability of organizations, industries, and societies. Sustainability on a smarter planet means gathering, synthesizing and applying information in new ways to benefit economic, environmental and operational strategies of an organization. By leveraging its business consulting, IT services, enterprise software, hardware systems, and financing capabilities along with its extensive business partner network, IBM helps clients measure and manage the sustainability of their organizations’ IT, people, information, products, property, and business operations. They also help develop strategies that prioritize current and future investments, while also revealing opportunities for an organization to thrive and develop.
Home Depot
What we love about The Home Depot Foundation
The Home Depot Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that was established in 2002 to further the community building goals of The Home Depot by providing additional resources to assist nonprofit organizations. Since its formation, The Home Depot Foundation has granted $70 million to nonprofit organizations and supported the development of more than 50,000 affordable, healthy homes. Not only are they committed to providing homes for those who most need them, The Home Depot Foundation takes a whole community approach by investing in the planting and restoration of trees along streets, in parks and in schoolyards; the building and refurbishment of community play spaces; and the revitalization of school facilities. And as if that’s not enough, in 2007, The Home Depot Foundation committed to investing $400 million in grants over the next 10 years, which will result in the development of 100,000 affordable, healthy homes for working families and the planting and preservation of more than three million community trees in urban areas. Now that is something to love!

Jones Day
What we love about Jones Day
Jones Day is organized as a true partnership, and it operates as such, not as an LLP or LLC or some other quasi-corporate entity. They see themselves as a global legal institution based on a set of principles to which a large number of men and women can commit – principles that have a social purpose and permanence, that transcend individual interests. While this may well be a more sociological description than you would see on most law firm web sites, and no doubt is subject to a skeptical reaction from many when they first read or hear it, they believe it accurately describes one important aspect of what makes Jones Day the client service organization that it is.
